BBC World News banned broadcasting in China

The National Radio and Television Administration of the People’s Republic of China (NRTA) , informed that BBC World News violated in its reporting the rules regulating the management of radio and television, as well as the rules for the management of foreign satellite TV channels.

According to the statement, these violations contradicted requirements for the news to be truthful and impartial, and do not undermine China’s national interests and ethnic solidarity. “Since it does not meet the requirements for broadcasting in China as an overseas channel, BBC World News is not allowed to continue operating in China.

NRTA will not accept the channel’s application for broadcasting in the new year”, the regulator declared. It should be reminded that earlier the British media regulator Offcom took the decision to revoke the license of the English-language channel CGTN for broadcasting in the UK.
