Begench Baltayev from Turkmenistan won bronze at the World Sambo Championships in Yerevan

Turkmen athlete Begench Baltayev won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Sambo Championships, which was held in Yerevan. This was reported by the press service of the International Sambo Federation.

Baltayev competed in the weight category up to 79 kg in sports sambo, in which 24 athletes took part. The winner of the gold medal in this category was the representative of Bulgaria, Ivan Harkov.

Armenian wrestler Boris Shatveryan won the silver medal in this category. Another bronze medal in this category was awarded to Russian Egor Suhoparov.

The World Sambo Championship ended on November 12. Athletes from 65 countries took part in the competition. According to the results of the tournament, first place in the team competition was taken by the Russian team, performing under the flag of FIAS_1, second place by the Uzbekistan team, and third place by the Kazakhstan team.
