President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution today, according to which the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy is allowed, together with the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan and the International Tennis Federation, to hold a stage of the international Davis Cup tournament, previously scheduled for holding, on September 6-12, 2021 in the Tennis Complex of the Olympic town of Ashgabat.

The document was signed “in order to further strengthen friendship, brotherhood, good neighborliness between the peoples, to widely involve the younger generation in sports, to develop the Olympic movement in the country,” the Vatan news program of Turkmen television reported.
Recall that the Davis Cup qualifiers in the 4th group of the Asia and Oceania zone should be held in Ashgabat with the participation of 17 men's teams. The national teams of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates and others will compete for the right to break into the third group.
The largest Davis Cup tennis team tournament is held annually in four groups, ranked by national team and continent. The strongest 16 teams of the World Group are fighting for the trophy, where you can get through four lower divisions.
