The state information agency TDH reports that President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has severely reprimanded Minister of Finance Mukhammetguly Mukhamedov and Minister of Healthcare and Medical Industy Nurmukhammet Amannepesov for “failure to properly perform job functions and shortcomings identified while running the agencies and organizations subordinate to them”.
Moreover, “a severe reprimand with the final warning to eliminate the shortcomings within the shortest possible time” was issued to the Chairperson of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan Merdan Annadurdyev.
At the same time, Berdymukhammedov expressed his concern to demonstrate commitment “to increasing the purchasing power of the local currency manat, improving the quality of bank services and boosting exports of locally produced merchandise and foreign exchange revenues”.
Let us recall that on 6 April the President of Turkmenistan had already instructed the heads of finance and economy departments to “ensure the stability of the finance system, investments, sustainability and purchasing power of the national currency manat, as well as increase exports of locally produced merchandise”.
On 17 March “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” reported on the price hikes and depreciating of the Turkmen manat.
A dollar exchange rate on the black market has gone up to 7,20-7,50 manats. The official exchange rate, however, still remains at 3,50 manats per $1 .
