The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium hosted a reception in Brussels to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust, the embassy reported Sunday.
The event was attended by representatives of EU institutions, the Belgian government, international organizations, and the diplomatic corps.
Turkmen Ambassador to Belgium Sapar Palvanov delivered a welcoming address, noting that neutrality has become the foundation of Turkmenistan’s state policy, recognized by a UN General Assembly resolution and enshrined in the country’s constitution.
He said the country’s neutrality represents an active stance aimed at promoting dialogue and building trust, including through participation in regional projects such as TAPI and TAP.
A highlight of the evening was the participation of Miss Belgium finalists, who appeared in traditional Turkmen attire. One participant emphasized the values of respect and solidarity, saying it was an honor to showcase elements of Turkmen culture.
The Brussels reception underscored the significance of Turkmenistan’s neutrality as a tool for strengthening trust and international cooperation.
