National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, Türkiye on Thursday, the Turkmen official media reported.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed to the Turkish President the warmest words of greeting and sincere wishes to the Turkish people from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Furthermore, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Turkish people in connection with the February 6 earthquake in the country's southeast region, which caused extensive damage and loss of life.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the kind words and conveying his and the Turkish people's greetings and sincere wishes to the Turkmen leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Türkiye has always paid attention to the development of bilateral relations with Turkmenistan.
Thanking the high-ranking guest for accepting the invitation to attend the international forum, Turkish leader noted that Turkmenistan's participation in the Organization of Turkic States as an observer is of political and diplomatic nature and aimed at further strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with the brotherly Turkic-speaking nations.
Focusing on the relevance of enhancing partnership in the transport and logistics sector, Turkmenistan's Halk Maslahaty Chairman emphasized the importance of making full use of favorable opportunities of transport corridors to expand cooperation. In this regard, it is possible to effectively use the infrastructure of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port.
Energy sector was also emphasized as one of the essential elements of cooperation. There was a need to strengthen partnerships in this area, and to consider Turkmen natural gas and electricity supplies to Türkiye via third countries.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the upcoming presidential election in Türkiye scheduled for May 14 and wished the Turkish leader success in this political campaign.
Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in an Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara on Thursday. The topic of the summit was "Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance''.
