China Imports 2.9 bcm of Turkmen Natural Gas in March

Turkmenistan exported around 2.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China in March this year, the online publication of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.

In March, Kazakhstan exported 380 million cubic meters of gas to China and Uzbekistan exported 140 million cubic meters of gas.

Turkmenistan currently exports natural gas to China via three pipelines passing along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China route. The pipeline system is capable of transporting 55 bcm of gas a year, with majority of the supplies provided by Turkmenistan and the rest provided by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During the investment forum in Dubai on April 26, Batyr Amanov, the Chairman of the Turkmen natural gas producer Türkmengaz, announced that Turkmenistan will increase natural gas supplies to China by up to 65 bcm per year after the commissioning of the fourth line of the gas pipeline.
