Chinese Delegation Reviews Capabilities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation

A delegation led by Tang Zhishu, rector of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, visited the headquarters of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Arkadag during a visit to Turkmenistan on April 15, 2026, according to official Turkmen media.

Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Oguljahan Atabayeva held talks with Tang and members of the delegation.

Atabayeva highlighted the significance of a memorandum of understanding on establishing a Turkmen-Chinese Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine between medical universities of the two countries, saying it marked an upgrade in bilateral relations to a new level.

She also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in child health care and in developing comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation programs.

Tang expressed appreciation for the meeting and said the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was interested in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan in health care. He noted that traditional medicine centers operate in countries including Australia, Russia, the United States and Germany, adding that Turkmenistan’s inclusion reflects growing interest in public health and effective treatment methods.

The delegation also visited the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, where members were briefed on its medical services and equipment.
