CIS Leaders Attend Informal Summit in St. Petersburg

The informal meeting of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took place at the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library in Russia’s St. Petersburg on Monday, according to the Press Service of the President of Russia.

The informal CIS meeting gathered President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In his speech, President Putin expressed gratitude to the CIS leaders for accepting the invitation and coming to St. Petersburg. He suggested summing up the results of the work of the CIS in 2022, talking about plans for the future and discussing issues of concern to all leaders on the regional and international agenda.

The summit will last two days. On Tuesday morning, there will be a working breakfast at the Russian museum. The previous informal summit in St. Petersburg was held in October.
