CIS Secretary General Awarded Turkmenistan’s “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 Ýyllygyna” Medal

Sergey Lebedev, Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), received the “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 Ýyllygyna” commemorative medal from Turkmenistan for his efforts to promote the legacy of the renowned Turkmen poet.

Esen Aydogdyyev, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Russia, presented the medal during a ceremony on November 6, 2024, at the CIS headquarters in Moscow.

The award honors Lebedev for his efforts to study and promote the works of Magtymguly Pyragy and acknowledges his role in enhancing friendly relations between the CIS and Turkmenistan.

This ceremony marked part of a series of events celebrating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy, an influential poet and philosopher of the 18th century whose work significantly impacted Turkmen culture and literature.
