The Higher Music Schools of Ashgabat and Yerevan held an online joint master class. The creative video conferencing was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Armenia and became a continuation of the actively developing dialogue between the two “forges” the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva and the Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas.
The current session was devoted to the violin music and the technique of performing on the bow string instrument.
The master class for students of the Turkmen Conservatory was conducted by Ruben Smbatyan, Associate Professor of the Department of String Instruments of the Yerevan State Conservatory, and Gagik Smbatyan, Professor of the same department. They listened to six works for violin performed by young musicians, including a piece by Aram Khachaturian.
Armenian teachers noted that a very interesting concert program was selected and gave valuable advice to young Turkmen performers, having shared their experience in improving their skills.
Colleagues-teachers of the two countries agreed that such classes are good for increasing the efficiency of the educational process and agreed on date of the next meeting.It will be held in a week, on February 22, and will be dedicated to national instruments; dutar and gidjak will be presented from the Turkmen side, while canon from the Armenian side.
