Consultations on the development of a Roadmap for the implementation of the EDI system were held in Turkmenistan

A series of consultations on the electronic data interchange (EDI) system implementation was organized by the United Nations Development Program jointly with the Agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk" of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on May 30-31.

The consultations were held with the participation of the Estonian Consulting Company Proud Engineers.

The event was aimed at developing a Roadmap for the implementation of the EDI system in the country in accordance with the State Program for Development of Digital Economy for 2021-2025.

The EDI system is an important stage in the process of digitalization of public services for the population and business in the country; it facilitates the exchange of business documents and data within various platforms and software.

The provided consultations also included discussions on the implementation of a citizen's personal identification number system, as well as electronic signatures and other digital services.

The event, which was attended by representatives of ministries and government departments of Turkmenistan, was organized within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP and the Agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk".

The Memorandum implies the introduction of EDI in Turkmenistan, including design and development, improvement of regulatory framework for comprehensive implementation of the electronic data interchange system, attraction of international best practices and increasing national capacity in the field of digital transformation of public administration, according to the UNDP Press Release.
