Cotton harvesting in Turkmenistan will be carried out in a fully mechanized way

Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural Machinery of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov Negmatulla Hudayberdyev noted that Turkmenistan has every opportunity to harvest cotton in a full-fledged mechanized and automated mode, without resorting to manual labor, reports CentralAsia.news.

According to the specialist, the geography of Turkmenistan is determined by the favorable climatic content for the production of medium and fine-fiber varieties of cotton. In 2023, 580 thousand hectares were sown with cotton, and farmers plan to harvest more than 1,2 million tons from them.

Hudayberdyev noted that the country's agricultural wedge is provided with thousands of tractors of various brands, seeders, cultivators and other agricultural equipment, which contributes to the continuity of all agricultural activities.

It was also noted that this year 1600 John Deere cotton pickers and 7800 vehicles are involved in the “white gold” harvesting campaign.

The Turkmen scientist specified that with the correct use of the line of combines, it is possible to harvest from 12 thousand hectares per day, and complete the entire harvest within 52 days.
