Cyclists from 186 countries to arrive in Ashgabat to the World Track Cycling Championship

Igor Makarov, the head of the ARETI International Group, who is also a member of the Steering Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI), has informed the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov today on the preparations for the World Track Cycling Championship to be held in Ashgabat this year.

The championship is scheduled to take place in the fall, on October 13-17. It is organized by the country’s Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, together with the Cycling Federation and the UCI.

The Olympic Village will be the venue of the world tournament, the indoor cycle track of which, like all other facilities, is recognized to obey the requirements of the International Olympic Committee. According to Makarov, cyclists from 186 countries will take part in the competition.

The International Cycling Union is ready for its part to provide all kinds of assistance in holding it at a high level and dealing organizational issues, including the vaccination of members of delegations who will arrive in Turkmenistan for the World Championship, Makarov said.
