This significant date was established in memory of the citizens of Turkey who lost their lives defending the freedom and constitutional order of the country.
On July 15, 2016, tragic domestic incidents took place in Ankara and Istanbul, resulting in the death of more than 250 people. In October of the same year, at the initiative of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, this day was declared the Day of Democracy and National Unity.
The exhibition in the capital of Turkmenistan began with a moment of silence. The visitors were shown a documentary film and presented a photographic chronicle, capturing the moments of the historical unity of the people in the struggle against destructive forces.
Deputy Ambassador of Turkey to Turkmenistan Gulshah Jumurcu emphasized that the Turkish people demonstrated heroic unity by resisting the putschists who tried to attack the democratic principles and constitutional foundations of the state.
In the same vein, the diplomat expressed her sincere gratitude to fraternal Turkmenistan, which at a difficult time expressed support for the Turkish people in the spirit of unity and solidarity.
