Days of Turkmen Cinema Launched in Tbilisi

A large-scale film festival showcasing the best works of Turkmen filmmakers opened on Friday in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. This cultural event celebrates the 300th anniversary of the great poet Magtymguly Pyragy and results from the collaborative efforts of the Embassy of Turkmenistan and the Georgian Film Academy, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The festival commenced with a screening of "Composer," directed by Maksat Gylyjov, which received direct support from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.

The event attracted a wide range of guests, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural figures, and students.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Georgia, Dovlet Seyitmammedov, emphasized in his speech that cinema today serves as a powerful tool for intercultural dialogue, highlighting the special role of film in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

The festival program, running until November 24, features screenings of films such as "Istarin" by Arslan Eyeberdiyev and "Red Kurta" by Sahysalyh Bayramov. Film critic Dali Okropiridze praised the initiative from the Turkmen side and expressed optimism for further cultural cooperation between the two countries.
