Democratic Party Candidate Serdar Berdimuhamedov becomes the New President of Turkmenistan

The Central Election Commission for Elections and Referendums of Turkmenistan on its official website published the results of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan: the candidate from the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, Serdar Gurbangulyyevich Berdimuhamedov, became the new head of state.

According to the CEC, Serdar Berdimuhamedov won 72.97 percent of the vote.

In total, 3 362 052 or 97,17 percent of the total number of registered voters voted during the elections in Turkmenistan.

The election was followed by missions of observers from the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and some states of the region.

The inauguration ceremony will take place this Saturday, March 19.
