Denmark plans to ban the breeding of dogs with congenital breathing problems. The initiative was taken by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, reports euro-pulse.ru.
The ban will affect flat-faced breeds such as pugs, French and English bulldogs, and Pekingese.
Animal rights activists played a key role in the decision to introduce the ban. They believe that the specific conformation of flat-faced dogs causes them suffering. For example, such animals have difficulty breathing, and genetic mutations can cause headaches.
