EBRD Intends to Intensify Cooperation With Turkmen Private Sector

A meeting with the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Representative Office in Ashgabat Fatih Turkmenoglu took place at the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan on Thursday, TDH news agency reports.

According to the report, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Halkbank Joint Stock Commercial Bank.

During the discussion of plans for further cooperation, the meeting participants exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral relations, in particular, in the non-state sector. In this regard, the sides considered the possibilities of allocating investments and providing consulting services for private financial institutions, small enterprises, medium and large domestic companies.

Expressing his satisfaction with the cooperation with representatives of the non-state sector of the Turkmen economy, which resulted in the financing of a number of projects of the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, Fatih Turkmenoglu emphasized that the EBRD will continue to actively work with the private sector of the country in order to facilitate business development through financial and consulting services.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral relations in the framework of the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan’s national economic complex, including to further develop the non-state sector of the economy.
