The state information agency TDH reports that at the Cabinet session held on 6 May it was announced that some COVID-19 measures would be lifted.

Deputy Prime Minister overseeing science, education, healthcare and sport Sapardurdy Toilyev informed President Serdar Berdymukhammedov on reviewing the WHO reports and mass media coverage on the weakening of the COVID-19 pandemic, “as a result of which many countries are gradually easing COVID-19 prevention measures”.

to hold a session of Turkmenistan’s Emergency Commission for Disease Prevention once a week;

effective 1 June to abolish the mandatory mask mandate except in public transport and indoor premises;

The head of state approved all the proposals.

In the run-up to the summer season Serdar Berdymukhammedov also instructed to prepare hotels, recreational centres and resorts in the national recreational zone “Avaza”, as well as health resorts and children’s summer camps in Ashgabat and velayats.
