Every year on the last Sunday of May, Turkmenistan celebrates the Day of the Turkmen Carpet. This year the holiday was celebrated on the 29th. In honor of this event, the XXII meeting of the World Association of Connoisseurs of the Turkmen Carpet was held in Ashgabat and an exhibition of the trade complex of Turkmenistan was organized.
Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed a welcoming message to the participants of the events.
The head of state congratulated everyone on the Turkmen Carpet Day, and on the start of the XXII meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs “Heavenly Beauty Turkmen Carpet” and the Exhibition of the Trade Complex of Turkmenistan, held on the occasion of a significant date.
The message also notes that national carpets, unique in their technology of creation, which have been improved over the centuries and have become an integral part of the life of Turkmens, are the pride of the people, the decoration of the hearth and a recognized monument of high-applied art in the world.
The head of state emphasized that the inclusion of the Turkmen national art of carpet weaving in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is also clear evidence of the world recognition of the exquisite carpets created by skillful Turkmen women as a monument of fine art.
According to esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the placement of carpet ornaments on the state symbols of our country embodies the adherence of Turkmens to the precepts of their ancestors, original traditions, the continuity of the national worldview, the character and spirit of the people, and their confidence in a bright future.
Besides that, the esteemed President of Turkmenistan stated that holding an exhibition dedicated to the achievements of the carpet, textile and trade industries on the occasion of the Turkmen Carpet Day has a special meaning.
At the exhibition, textile industry enterprises, which have become one of the key sectors of the national economy, which is developing at a high pace, will also widely demonstrate their labor successes and best practices.
They will present textile products that are in high consumer demand in the global and domestic markets, and new products that will be offered to buyers in the summer-autumn season.
In this regard, the head of state expressed confidence that the traditional meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs would contribute to the comprehensive disclosure of the successes achieved in the country's carpet industry, high achievements, the diversity of the amazing art of Turkmen girls and women, the exchange of views of participants on issues of mutual interest, further development of cooperation.
At the end of the message, the esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov once again congratulated his compatriots on the widely celebrated Turkmen Carpet Day and the opening on this occasion of the XXII meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs, and the exhibition of the trade complex of Turkmenistan, and wished them good health, great success in work and in life.
