EU Supports Turkmenistan’s Green Economy and Trade Climate

The European Union (EU) is expanding its collaboration with Turkmenistan through targeted initiatives aimed at supporting the country’s green economy and improving its trade climate, according to Trend on Tuesday, citing an interview with the European Commission’s press service.

In addition to environmental efforts, the EU initiative focuses on enhancing Turkmenistan’s business climate, with particular attention to economic growth that supports micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The EU is also assisting Turkmenistan in its bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), promoting the country’s integration into the global trade system.

These initiatives are part of the EU’s broader Central Asia strategy, which emphasizes regional cooperation, sustainability, and prosperity. Through this strategy, the EU is implementing various Global Gateway projects that support digital and transport connectivity and the development of essential raw materials.

The EU’s active involvement in Central Asia, including its partnership with Turkmenistan, highlights its commitment to strengthening regional ties and fostering sustainable development by balancing environmental and economic reforms.
