The European Union has prepared a €12 billion investment package for Central Asian countries under the Global Gateway program, Kundus Kyrbasheva, the Chairperson of the Association of Green Renewable Energy Plants of Kyrgyzstan, told economist.kg following the third EUCentral Asia Economic Forum held November 26 in Tashkent.
The funding is planned for transport and infrastructure development, green energy projects, water management and climate initiatives, digitalization of the economy, extraction of critical minerals, and support for the private sector in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Kyrbasheva noted that the EU’s approach to cooperation is shifting: instead of bilateral formats, the focus is now on regional engagement with all Central Asian countries.
Following the forum, the participating countries signed several projects related to critical raw materials and the restoration of degraded land in the Aral region.
