FAO agency will open in Turkmenistan

The Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will open in Turkmenistan.Issues of activating actions for the opening of the office were discussed today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Director of the FAO Regional Office Viorel Gutsu, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the video meeting.

Meredov stressed that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the activities of the Organization and intends to develop effective cooperation aimed at using world practices in the field of sustainable agricultural development and improving measures to maintain food security.

FAO's activities in the region are currently led by the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, based in Budapest.

Ankara hosts the FAO Sub-Regional Office for Central Asia, which specializes in providing expert services to the countries of this sub-region - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
