FAO expert visited Turkmenistan as part of a project to strengthen locust control

Nadezhda Muratova, a specialist of the Food and Agriculture Program of the United Nations (FAO) on geographic information systems (GIS), visited Turkmenistan for several days as part of a multi-country project to strengthen locust control.

As reported in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan", the expert took part in collegiate meetings, consultations with specialists from plant protection services, environmental protection, as well as entomologists.

She also took part in a multi-day scientific and practical training to familiarize Turkmen specialists with GIS technologies, specialized digital systems and their installation programs, which make it possible to automatically collect information about natural foci of insect pests.

The practical part of the training was the departure of the seminar participants to the territory of the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat for field measurements.
