Farmers from Lebap to Harvest 47.4 Thousand Tons of Rice

Farmers from Lebap province plan to harvest 47.4 thousand tons of rice from 10.2 thousand hectares of land this year, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.

According to the report, rice is currently planted along with other intermediate crops in the fields where wheat was harvested.

Specialists from the Lebapgallaönümleri production association confirm that the main part of sown rice is the variety "Nukus-2", which is notable for its high yield. Last year, in order to improve the rice varieties, some rice varieties brought from Russia were tested.

Along with the main variety of rice, "Nukus-2", "Flagman" and other varieties are widely grown.

More than 50 machines are used for rice cultivation and harvesting in Lebap province, most of them are foreign-made combine harvesters, such as "TUSANO 430 CLAAS" and "Keys".
