Farmers of Dashoguz Velayat Plan a Record Potato Harvest This Year

Farmers of the Garashsyzlyk etrap in Dashoguz velayat are planning to achieve a strong potato harvest this year.The crop will be planted on 2,995 hectares.The main share of the cultivated area falls on the “Shavat” daykhan association (470 hectares) and the “N.

Andalib” daykhan association (272 hectares).In addition to these associations, other producers also intend to make a significant contribution to the crop output, accounting for roughly one-third of all potato fields in the etrap.

Overall, across the velayat, potatoes will again be planted on 8,800 hectares.Local farmers expect to grow a solid harvest, aiming for yields of no less than 140 centners per hectare.

In recent years, potato growers in the region have consistently achieved strong results, although large-scale potato cultivation began here relatively recently.Over the past few years, local farmers have accumulated considerable experience in potato cultivation.

The region mainly grows early- and mid-season varieties such as “Gala” and “Sante”, among others.These varieties are well-suited in terms of maturation period and yield, are resistant to diseases, and are convenient for storage and transportation.
