About two million mulberry seedlings were planted this year in the north of Turkmenistan.Traditionally, special attention is paid to the development of the fodder base for sericulture in the region.

Dashoguz velayat is one of the largest suppliers of valuable raw materials for the domestic textile industry.Up to 500 tons of cocoons are harvested here annually.In addition, a useful plantation has a beneficial effect on the local ecology.

It is believed that it protects other plantations in the cultivated area from strong winds, lowers the level of groundwater, reduces evaporation and the need for crops in water, and mitigates the negative effects of drought.

Therefore, a large number of mulberry trees are planted along the perimeter of agricultural land and along the water sources of the velayat.At the same time, trees, famous for their longevity and numerous useful properties, also help to strengthen the banks of irrigation canals.

His seedlings are generally resistant to heat and drought, with little need for soil.Today sericulture is one of the most promising branches of agriculture in the Dashoguz velayat.

Its mulberry plantations are more than two thousand hectares.In addition, mulberry is used here in urban landscape gardening compositions, its fruits are used fresh by the local population and for the preparation of preserves, jellies, jams and other canned products.

It should be noted that the mulberry tree is practically a waste-free tree.Its wood is suitable for making household crafts, musical instruments, and dishes.Mulberry leaves contain nutrients and nutrients that are also beneficial for pets.
