Foreign media representatives shared their experience with Turkmen colleagues

How digital newspapers and digital kiosks develop, what is the difference between online journalism and print media, these and many other topics were discussed during the webinar organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat for the media representatives of Turkmenistan.

International experts Yuri Purgin, General Director of Altapress Publishing House, and Vadim Makarenko, an experienced journalist of the Polish newspaper Vyborcha, spoke about their experience of digital media transformation.

As Yuri Purgin noted in his presentation: “The Internet is 24 hours in touch”. And in order for information content to be of interest to a large audience, special attention should be paid to social topics and how the city and the country as a whole live.

In the digital age, the “news” palm belongs to the Internet. The daily flow of information constantly dumping on the reader can greatly increase the user audience. Today the mass media are conquering new platforms in social networks, focusing not only on the business and experienced reader, but also on young people.

Interesting news and events are, first of all, unique information that can not only entertain, but also be useful. Interactive video materials, efficiency of coverage of events and ease of access to them also attract the attention of readers of Internet publications.

Keeping a finger on the pulse of events, Turkmen electronic media maintain close contact, interacting and exchanging information with the world media. On the eve of this webinar, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan TDH and the Indian news agency Asian News International ANI, concluded an agreement on sharing news content.

Speaking about digital kiosks, webinar expert Vadim Makarenko stressed that it is difficult for readers who are accustomed to receive newspapers at a minimal price or for free to switch to a paid e-subscription. However, it is a paid digital subscription to prestigious Internet publications that provides access to unique information.

There is a digital kiosk with exclusive materials in Turkmenistan Turkmenbugat, you can subscribe to this information resource using your smartphone. This server contains newspapers, magazines, scientific articles and an informational exclusive, telling about important events in the country and the world.

Also, the experts of the webinar told their Turkmen colleagues from which open sources one can obtain high-quality illustrations for the design of their own materials, because photographs play one of the key roles for modern and relevant news content.
