Foreign Ministers of Caspian Countries to Meet in Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation the preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Caspian littoral countries in Moscow, according to the press release issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.

The meeting discussed the prospects for further deepening of cooperation within the Caspian "Five".

According to TASS, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Caspian states is planned at the initiative of Russia.

On August 12 of this year, at the conference "Caspian Sea - Sea of Peace and Friendship" held in Avaza National Tourist Zone, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted that the practical implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea should be considered at the upcoming meeting.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of determining a platform for the development of measures aimed at improving the environmental situation in the Caspian Sea.
