Foreign Speakers to Present Their Visions at OGT 2021

Ashgabat will host Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan (OGT) 2021 International Investment Forum, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, on 12-13 May.

The plenary session will focus on “Global Trends in Energy Markets and Prospects for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” and will see the presentation by Joseph McMonigle, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum.

Founded in 1991, the International Energy Forum (IEF) is an international organization headquartered in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh. It is an independent global energy policy institution dedicated to providing a global dialogue between energy consumers and producers. Forum unites 73 importing and exporting countries.

Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, the UK Prime-Minister’s Trade Envoy in Turkmenistan, will present the UK’s vision on the further development of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Baroness Nicholson is a member of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament since 1997, a member of the UK Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where she is a member of the Monitoring Committee.

Executive Secretary of the UN’s Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana will also participate in the plenary session.

Established in 1947, ESCAP is mandated to deal with the economic and social problems of the region.

The upcoming Forum in Ashgabat will bring together senior management of leading national and international oil and gas companies, international financial institutions, as well as experts that shape the future of the oil and gas industry not only in Turkmenistan, but throughout the region.

Due to international travel restrictions, the Forum will also be held in an online format.

The Forum will provide the platform to discuss global trends in the development of the fuel and energy sector and the implementation of regional projects in this area, including the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
