Georgia marked World Bicycle Day

On 3 June 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held a bicycle ride dedicated to World Bicycle Day, as well as to the 30th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of Georgian National Bicycle Federation, athletes and coaches of Georgia.The route took the streets of Tbilisi city and the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta.

Addressing the audience, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia Mr.D.Seyitmammedov noted that World Bicycle Day, established by the UN on the initiative of Turkmenistan and widely celebrated around the world, contributes to strengthening public interest in cycling, promoting a culture of active leisure, and fostering a responsible attitude towards the environment.

He stressed that cycling, being an environmentally friendly sport, is gaining increasing popularity worldwide, especially in Turkmenistan, which makes a significant contribution to the development of mass health-improving movements.

The Ambassador added that the bicycle ride is also timed to the 35th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan.At the end of the event, the participants of the bicycle ride were presented with commemorative gifts.
