Georgia’s Prime Minister meets the President of Turkmenistan and visits Akhal-teke equestrian centre

On 29-30 August the official visit of Georgia’s Prime Minister Georgi Kvirikashvili was held in Turkmenistan.

On 30 August the head of Georgia’s government met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov to discuss ways of cooperation in energy and transport.

The press service of Georgia’s government reports that “the sides discussed regional transportation projects, such as setting up transport corridor involving Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania as well as Turkmenistan’s engagement in the implementation of the “Silk Road” project.

The state information agency TDH reports that later that day Kvirikashvili visited Turkmenistan’s Mejlis where he met the chairperson of the National Parliament Akdja Nurberdyeva.

Later the head of Georgia’s government departed to Kipchak where he paid pay tribute to the memory of Turkmenistan’s first President of Turkmenistan and visited the Mosque of Spirituality in Turkmenbashi.

In the afternoon Georgi Kvirikashvili toured the Olympic village and the International Akhal-teke equestrian centre.
