On 5 May monetary and valuable gifts were presented to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Turkmenistan.

It has been previously reported that the veterans would receive 200 manats, which amounts to $12,5 to $10 using the “black market” rate (the exchange rate fluctuates between 16 to 20 manats per dollar).

In a television broadcast shown by the state television we could count only 36 veterans, six of them in Ashgabat, four in Akhal velayat, three in Balkan velayat, seven in Dashoguz velayat, seven in Lebap velayat and nine in Mary velayat.

“In their speeches veterans and widows expressed their gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov for taking care of the older generation”, — the state information agency TDH reported.
