Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Attends Opening Ceremony of New Mosque in Anau

The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participated in the opening ceremony of a new mosque in Anau, the Ak Bugday district. He also made a charitable Iftar meal.

According to Turkmenistan's official media, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty was greeted by the country's Mufti, members of the Council of Elders of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and the Council of Elders established under Charitable Foundation for Children in Need of Care named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, along with honorable representatives of the older generation.

On behalf of the Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov handed over the keys to cars intended for the service of the new mosque to Turkmenistan's Mufti.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan announced that on the blessed day of the sacred month of Ramadan, a charitable Iftar meal is being carried out in the new mosque of Anau. He noted that constructing roads, bridges, and mosques is considered a virtuous deed among Turkmen people.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to those present that, as a sign of respect for ancestors and the legacy of the past, as well as in honor of those who have left a bright mark in history, the new religious structure erected on this sacred land be named the "Seyit Jamal ad-Din Mosque."

Respected elders participating in the charitable Iftar meal approved and supported the proposal of the national leader of the Turkmen people.

The total area of the new mosque is 6 hectares, where up to 500 people can pray simultaneously.Each of the four minarets is 50 meters high, and the domes are 30 meters high, symbolizing the duration of the month in days.

The 24 windows arranged around the base of the dome represent the duration of a day.The mosque also includes 500 rooms for charitable meals.
