National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and first vice premier of the State Council of China, who arrived in Turkmenistan on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to official Turkmen media.
Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan supports China’s initiatives advanced within the United Nations and intends to continue such support. The national leader also highlighted the importance of China’s global initiatives in security, civilization, development and governance.
Ding noted that Turkmenistan’s 2026 motto, “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan Homeland of Determined Winged Horses,” coincides with the Year of the Horse in the Eastern calendar and symbolizes the country’s dynamic development.
During an exchange of views on current cooperation and future prospects, both sides said Turkmen-Chinese ties span a wide range of areas, including political and diplomatic engagement, trade and economic cooperation, fuel and energy, transport and communications, logistics, industry, technology, and cultural and humanitarian fields.
According to the report, following a recently signed document by the president of Turkmenistan, work is set to begin on the next phase of development at the Galkynysh gas field in cooperation with China National Petroleum Corp.
In this regard, Ding expressed gratitude to the president of Turkmenistan and the chairman of the Halk Maslahaty for creating favorable investment conditions for Chinese companies operating in the country.
At the end of the meeting, Berdimuhamedov and Ding expressed confidence that Turkmen-Chinese relations will continue to develop across a broad range of areas for the benefit of both nations and exchanged best wishes.
