Today in Astana the opening ceremony of the monument to the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi took place. Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Kazakhstan, took part in the ceremony.

As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports, the opening of the monument is timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, which is celebrated internationally. This event highlights the deep cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The monument, about 8,5 meters high, depicts the poet in full height at the moment of creativity, with a pen in hand. The surrounding area is landscaped and greened.

It is worth noting that on May 17, the cultural and park complex “Magtymguly Fragi” was opened in Ashgabat. The new park also contains sculptures of famous artists from different countries, including Kazakhstan, which symbolizes the friendship of peoples glorified by Magtymguly in his works.
