Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat Natalia Drozd held a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.The ambassador dedicated her speech to the significance of the Ashgabat Final Document, adopted at the international conference on neutrality in the Turkmen capital on December 12, 2020, which was circulated as the documents of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council.
Natalia Drozd focused on the political, economic and humanitarian aspects of the policy of neutrality in strengthening regional and global security. She emphasized the importance of the Ashgabat Final Document urging countries to develop the concept of neutrality as an instrument of international efforts to maintain peace and mutual understanding.
The establishment of the Group of Friends of Neutrality initiated by the Government of Turkmenistan is of particular importance, since the Group will be an effective ground for an equal dialogue on using the potential of neutrality to improve international political cooperation, Drozd said.
In her opinion, the Ashgabat Final Document is a guideline for further joint activities.
The head of the OSCE Center highly appreciated the initiative of Turkmenistan to declare 2021 the International Year of Peace and Trust, which was supported and approved by the UN General Assembly Resolution.
The Resolution acquires special significance in the light of modern threats to global security, Natalya Drozd stressed.
