The state information agency TDH reports that on 19 February the initiative groups of citizens held meetings in Akhal and Mary velayats of Turkmenistan to nominate Presidential candidates.
Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiev, the head of the public health authority of Babadayhan etrap, Akhal velayat, was nominated as Presidential candidate in Akhal velayat.
One of his accomplishments is that in 2007 he graduated from Ashgabat Medical University and joined the etrap public health authority which he headed in 2018.
Kakageldi Saryev, the CEO of the research and production center “Renewable energy sources” under the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, was nominated in Mary velayat.
Saryev graduated from Turkmenistan’s State Energy Institute in 1999. After completing military service in 2001 he worked as an engineer in a machine-building plant in Mary velayat and since 2002 has held “various positions in the State Energy Institute”.
The Democratic Party nominated Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdymukahmmedov as its candidate whereas the Agrarian Party nominated deputy khyakim of Mary velayat Agadjan Bekmyradov.
In Balkan velayt Berdymammet Gurbanov, chief physician of “Avaza” health resort, was nominated by initiative groups. Perkhat Begendzhov, the principal of Finance and Economics secondary vocational school was nominated in Lebap velayat.
As of today, a total of six candidates have been officially nominated.
It was reported on 17 February, 2022 that Turkmenistan’s Central Election Commission registered six initiative groups which need to submit signatures and nominate their candidates.
