President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Ashgabat on Friday, noted that the production of hydrogen from natural gas is a promising and highly sought-after area.

The Turkmen sides stated that Turkmenistan is ready to consider specific proposals of Hungarian colleagues in this segment, the official Turkmen media reported on Friday.

Hungary is interested in supplying Turkmen gas to Europe, but first, the sides need to lay a 300 km gas pipeline under the Caspian Sea, said Peter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary on his social media page.

Péter Szijjártó also confirmed Hungary's interest in building the infrastructure for Turkmen natural gas to be included in the European and Hungarian energy sectors.
