Belgian schoolchildren will now be able to attend school with chickenpox if their health allows it, reported “Europulse”. Previously, students with chickenpox were required to stay home until all symptoms of the disease disappeared.
According to Belgian doctors, isolation does not help prevent the spread of chickenpox, since patients become contagious even before they develop the characteristic skin rash.
Now the parents of a student with chickenpox will simply have to convey this information to the school, and the school administration will notify other parents.
The change will not affect kindergarten students - they will have to stay at home if they have chickenpox, since this disease can cause complications at an early age.
