In the city of Turkmenbashy, Balkan region, an open city basketball championship was held among juniors in 2009-2010, dedicated to the memory of the famous basketball players - Mereda Kurbanova and Anatolia Prokina.
The tournament was organized by the sports committee of the city and the city basketball federation with the support of the City Council of Trade Unions and the City Youth Union of Turkmenistan. Teams from Ashgabat, Dashoguz, Balkanabat, Turkmenbashi and Hazara took part in the competition.
Young basketball players fought for victory during 4 game days. It is worth noting that the teams that took 1-2 places and the teams that took 3-4 places scored the same amount of points. And only according to the results of the game between them are the determined winners.
As a result, the team from the city of Khazar became the champion of the tournament and received the winner's cup. The Turkmenbashi team took the second place in the tournament. The third place went to my basketball player Balkanabat. All the winners were awarded medals and valuable prizes.
