“Inter” Milan once again proved its superiority in Italian football by winning the Italian Super Cup for the third time in a row. In the final match of the tournament, which this year was held in Saudi Arabia, Simone Inzaghi's team beat “Napoli” with a score of 1:0.
Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive goal in the final minutes of extra time. And in the 60th minute of the match, “Napoli” footballer Giovanni Simeone left the field for being sent off.
Before the start of the second half, a minute of silence was held in memory of the legendary Italian national team scorer Luigi Riva, who passed away the day before at the age of 79.
This year, for the first time, four teams took part in the tournament: Italian champion “Napoli”, “Inter” Cup winner, as well as Cup finalist “Fiorentina” and championship silver medalist “Lazio”. In the semi-finals, “Inter” defeated “Lazio” 3:0, and “Napoli” defeated “Fiorentina” with the same score.
This Super Cup victory was “Inter's” eighth in the club's history.
