International Day of Yoga celebrated in Ashgabat

June 21 is International Yoga Day.On this occasion, an event was held today in Ashgabat at the Yoga and Traditional Medicine Center of the “Bagtyyarlyk” sports complex, which was attended by the Minister of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Atageldi Germanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Turkmenistan Vidhu Pithambaran Nair, director of the “Bagtyyarlyk” sports complex Maksat Kadyrov, as well as about 200 residents and guests of the capital who are followers of yoga.

The event was organized by the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan with the support of the Government of Turkmenistan.

International Yoga Day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2014, and since 2015 this day has been widely celebrated on June 21 every year. This Indian-led initiative has been recognized by 175 UN member states.

Let us remind that the opening of the Ashgabat Center for Yoga and Traditional Medicine was held in July 2015 within the framework of the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Turkmenistan.
