An International Conference on “Sustainable cooperation in the energy sector an important condition for universal development” has opened in Ashgabat. The forum is organized in both face-to-face and online format, bringing together key oil and gas industry experts from 32 countries.
The conference is held at the Natural Gas Research Institute of the Turkmengaz State Concern with the participation of 220 delegates from 70 companies: CNPC, PETRONAS, LUKOIL, SOCAR, Dragon Oil, etc.
The forum began with a plenary session, where the State Minister, Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern Batyr Amanov made a speech.
Noting that the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan is based on the principle of strengthening peace through sustainable development.This is one of the main components of the country’s diplomacy aimed at practical implementation of joint economic and investment projects, creating favorable conditions for international cooperation.
Turkmenistan has achieved high growth rates of the national economy and active participation in large-scale international projects.
One of the confirmations of it is the implementation of a large-scale interregional project the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which, according to all its participants and partners, will give a powerful impetus to the economic progress of the region.
According to the Minister, the construction of the linear part of the 214-kilometer Turkmen section of TAPI, with a total length of 1,840 kilometers and a rated capacity of 33 billion cubic meters per year, is presently in the final stage.
In his report, Mr. Amanov noted that China is currently the largest importer of Turkmen gas. The three lines (A, B and C) of the Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Kazakhstan China transnational gas pipeline, which was commissioned in December 2009, deliver about 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
In the future, these volumes will be increased to 65 billion cubic meters. Turkmenistan also supplies gas via the SAC gas pipeline to Russia, and has all the technical capabilities and resource base for the supply of blue fuel southward.
“In parallel with the export of natural gas by pipeline, Turkmenistan is currently paying special attention to its deep processing, which in the future may become the dominant sector in the country’s economy,” declared Batyr Amanov.
“In recent years, several gas chemical complexes have been put into operation in the country, and some more are planned to be built in the near future to produce products with high added value that are in demand on world markets,” noted the head of the Turkmengaz GC.
