Iran to Give Kyrgyzstan Logistics Site in Bandar Abbas Port

The Iranian government will provide Kyrgyzstan with a land plot and appropriate infrastructure in the Bandar Abbas port for the transit and delivery of freight to and from Kyrgyzstan, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said during a meeting with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday.

The top diplomats discussed issues related to trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian ties, cooperation in the field of healthcare and the situation in Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

Minister Kazabayev noted the importance of using the transit and transport potential between the countries, and therefore expressed interest in utilizing the Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan railway corridor, which will contribute to increasing trade turnover between the countries.

In turn, the Iranian Foreign Minister informed about the decision of the Iranian government to provide Kyrgyzstan with a land plot and appropriate infrastructure in the Bandar Abbas port for the transit and delivery of freight to and from Kyrgyzstan.

The parties also exchanged views on the setting up of Iranian trade center in Bishkek.

During a meeting with the Indian business delegation in Bishkek in early September, President of the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (KUIE) Danil Ibrayev informed about the plans to establish a new trade route between India and Kyrgyzstan, passing through the Iranian Bandar Abbas port.
