Japan's prime minister publicly ate seafood from Fukushima to demonstrate its safety

The world is concerned about the dumping of the first batch of water purified from radioactive substances from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean that began last week in Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, during a meeting with ministers, tried products from Fukushima Prefecture, thus demonstrating their safety, MIR 24 reports with reference to the Kyodo agency.

It is specified that the head of government tried sashimi from flounder, sea bass, octopus, as well as rice, meat and fruits grown in the region. At the same time, Kishida assured that his government will continue to do everything possible to support the fishing industry in Japan.

In addition, the authorities intend to increase the consumption of fish and seafood in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The source recalls that over 1.25 million tons of water accumulated in the tanks on the territory of the Fukushima-1 station, which was used to cool the reactors damaged by the tsunami in March 2011.

The Japanese authorities assure that the water as a whole is purified from radioactive substances, it contains only an isotope of hydrogen (tritium).
