Kazakhstan Offers Discount on Freight Transportation Via North-South Corridor

Kazakhstan will offer a 40% discount on transportation to Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries via the Russian-Kazakh border crossings for the main nomenclature of goods, except for grain, milling and petroleum products, the TASS news agency reported on Friday citing the press service of Russian Railways.

Discounts on Turkmenistan Railways will be 50 percent in the direction of the Akyayla border crossing, and 40 percent for transshipment at the Sarakhs freight yard (in the direction of Iran and beyond the Indian Ocean ports).

The Russian Railways expects that by the end of the first quarter of 2023, the volume of freight traffic through the North-South international transport corridor will have increased by more than 2.3 million tons over the previous year.

The Russian Railways press service said on Tuesday the holding and Türkmendemirýollary will open representative offices in Ashgabat and Moscow.
