Kazakhstani Companies Invest in 53 Projects in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan registered 53 investment projects with the participation of Kazakhstani companies in March 2023, "Neytralnyy Turkmenistan" newspaper reported on Monday.

In Kazakhstan, 16 joint ventures in various sectors of the economy with the participation of Turkmen capital operate in the Mangistau region, bordering the Balkan province of Turkmenistan.

According to the report, the Heads of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have set a goal to increase mutual trade to $1 billion in the near future.

The main export items to Kazakhstan are cotton products, textiles, ready-made garments, other clothing products, chemical fibers, and mineral fertilizers. Turkmen businessmen supply vegetables and detergents.

Wheat flour, furniture, technology and electronic equipment are imported to Turkmenistan from Kazakhstan.

Energy and transport and communication projects are of strategic importance in Turkmen-Kazakh relations.

A concrete result of effective cooperation in the transport sector is the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad, which has become an important link in the international North-South transit corridor.
