A poetry and music event titled “Spiritual Luminaries: Skovoroda and Magtymguly”, honoring Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy and Ukrainian philosopher and educator Hryhoriy Skovoroda, took place Wednesday at the Library named after Magtymguly of the Svіchado Centralized Library System of the Department of Culture of the Svyatoshinsky District State Administration of the City of Kyiv, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine reported.
Organized jointly with the Turkmen Embassy in Ukraine, the event brought together members of the creative intelligentsia, scholars, educators, students, and schoolchildren.In a welcome address, a diplomat highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy and the promotion of national art and literature.
In Ashgabat, in honor of Magtymguly’s 300th anniversary, the Magtymguly Pyragy complex was opened, featuring monuments to both poets.
Professors Mykola Vaskiv and Yurii Peleshenko emphasized the harmony in the worldviews of Magtymguly and Skovoroda, noting their shared pursuit of spiritual self-improvement, virtue, and love for their homeland.
The event concluded with a discussion on the significance of the poets’ spiritual heritage in strengthening friendship and cultural exchange between nations.
